Dr. Miranda-Sousa is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology (ABU) with a Fellowship in Urodynamics and Neurourology. The American Board of Urology is to assure the public that an individual has: (a) received appropriate training, and (b) has a level of urologic knowledge to practice safe and effective urology.  He completed his urology training with a Fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He graduated from the prestigious Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia School of Medicine in Lima, Peru. After his training, he moved to Massachusetts, creating a very successful practice over the course of five years.  He has strong working relationships with the Massachusetts General Hospital, Lahey Clinic, Mayo Clinic and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.

Dr. Michael Binner completed his medical school training at the University of South Florida and specialized in Urologic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Binner is a urologist who has dedicated his career to advances in Urology and novel treatment of prostate cancer. As Medical Director of Focal Therapy in Prostate Cancer at Inspire Oncology, he strives to bring cutting edge technology to his practice and the people of Southwest Florida.

Focal therapy for prostate cancer is when the prostate cancer is selectively targeted and destroyed. This offers an alternative to performing whole gland treatment such as radiation or prostate removal.

“Every prostate cancer diagnosis is unique, and deciding on a treatment path can be a difficult decision. Not all patients are candidates for focal prostate cancer ablation, and determining the right treatment plan in a patient-centered approach is something I value. Some patients will inevitably need whole gland treatment, however, for those who are eligible, focal gland ablation is a good option.”

Focal gland ablative options include HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), cryotherapy, IRE (Irreversible Electroporation), and TULSA-PRO (transurethral prostate cancer ablation). Determining the right ablative modality is personalized with each patient, and prioritizing maintaining quality of life without compromising oncologic control is paramount.

Dr. Binner also provides general urology expertise in other urologic cancers and benign issues. He provides minimally invasive robotic surgery for kidney and prostate cancers. He offers a multitude of options for benign prostate surgery for men with enlarged prostates and minimally invasive options for patients with kidney stones.
